The Vatican Library Collection P4281 Review: Beautiful crucifix, which I've been wearing daily for more than a year. I'm not anything like an expert on jewelry, but whereas the crucifix itself has remained "silver" and needs polishing only rarely, the chain and clasp have gone black, I assume from exposure to sweat. When treated with silver cleaner, the chain becomes a kind of dull, almost pewter-like color. And in a few days it turns black again. Perhaps the chain was coated with a finish that's now gone.
